What is Bank IFSC Code?


Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is 11 digit alphanumeric code to uniquely identify a bank branch of participating  in electronic funds transfer systems developed by Reserve Bank of India(RBI). IFSC Code is used in electronic funs transfer systems like Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), and Centralised Funds Management System (CFMS) systems. FSC codes are issued to all bank branches in India by Reserve Bank of India. You can list of ifsc code with bank branches participating in NEFT/RTGS/CFMS at getbankcode.com or RBI websites.

Following is the example of IFSC Code (For example. ICIC0001361)

  • First 4 characters represent the bank entity (ICICxxxxxxx)
  • Fifth position is always zero. This is for future use  (xxxx0xxxxxx)
  • Last 6 character represent the bank branch identity (xxxxx001361)

How to find IFSC Code?

For electronic fund transfer, the IFSC Code of bank branch is required. The online transfer is used for bill payment, insurance premium, load repayment, flight booking, train booking, shopping and much more. You can use Getbankcode's IFSC Code Locator or IFSC Code search tool to find the IFSC Code. The information on this portal is for information purpose only.
